The ntv7 Next Newscaster Event

The crew was there. Many students were seen in their best formal attire and make up (yes, even some of the guys). The camera flashed the lights at the crowd while the news anchor reported her story. The day had finally arrived for the NTV7 News casting auditions. Students interested in the broadcast field were encouraged to go for the audition as a news anchor for the TV station. Alternatively, for those who wished to know more about the industry came for the career talk featuring guest speakers Jasmine Abu Bakar, En. Abdul Manan Oshman and En. Zaman held at the Theaterette yesterday at 11.45 a.m.

The event kicked off with the casting auditions for the three different languages of its news program in the conference hall. The audition candidates were seen rehearsing their script before it was their turn. At the same time, the crowd was cheering as games were held as entertainment for everyone present.

Being the first student to audition, Jessica Sharmini said she had mixed feelings of nervousness and confidence as she entered the hall. However, she felt relieved and expressed hope that such events would be held more frequently in future.

The event proceeded with the career talk with Ms. Ajinder being the emcee. Dr. Khong, Vice President of HELP started the session with a welcoming speech. This was followed by En. Zaman, executive editor of NTV7, who stressed on the importance of interest and commitment to be in the broadcasting field.

There was a loud applause when NTV7 news anchor Jasmine Abu Bakar stepped onto the stage to share her experience as a graphic designer, producer, news anchor and reporter.

En. Abdul Manan Oshman, executive news assignment editor, was the final speaker of the day. He spoke about how the broadcasting industry operates in the country.

The session ended with Dr. James Kuake, Head of Communication Department, who thanked everyone and presented a token of appreciation to the guest speakers.

This event was organized by Department of Communication’s Student Council, IPRMSA and MMS.
