Runway 101: The Auditions

Putting their best foot forward. That is the phrase used to describe participants who were at the Runway 101 Auditions held recently in HELP. A total of 50 students from different faculties took part in the two-day event held separately in Wisma HELP, Level 5 and Main Block Lower Foyer.

The two judges, Dennis Khor Chen Weng, Organizing Chairperson as well as Stéfanie , the member of the event’s Publicity team were spoilt for choices as participants are well-versed in different aspects from their appearances to ability to stay cool amid scrutiny from the latter.

"It is like choosing the best among the best as we really have quite a number of good-looking participants," said Dennis after the auditions have ended.

During the interview, Dennis also added that ‘detail is perfection and perfection is no detail,’ as a tip for those who participated in the auditions.

It was certainly nerve-breaking for those who gave a try as they faced tough questions from the judges and the flashing lights of the camera in the audition room while performing a simple catwalk. Nevertheless, they still managed to put up their best in the hopes of impressing the judges as well as reaching the semifinal.

Kavitha Selvam, who were among the first few to enter, said that she used her smile to cover up her nervousness and answered all the questions from the judges.

"I didn’t lose my confidence although this is considered my very first audition," Kavitha added.

Organized by IPRMSA, Runway 101 is a model-searching competition in campus for those enjoying the glitter and glamour of being a model and at the same time gaining new experience.

As to date, a total of 22 participants have been shortlisted for the semifinal set for this Wednesday at Main Block’s Lower Foyer from 12 p.m. onwards and admission is free for all students and lecturers.
