Eat, Pray, Love (The Movie) - Review

KL48Hour Competition
48 Hour Film Project is a competition, whereby participating teams are given exactly 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a short film. The competition has been held in 90 cities and 27 countries, and for the first time in ten years, it is going to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The KL 48 Hour Film Project will take place during the weekend of Oct 29-31. Participating teams will gather at Finas (Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia) in Hulu Kelang on Oct 29. When the competition kicks off at 7pm, team leaders will be given a character, a prop and a line of dialogue, which need to be included in the film. The genre of the film will be randomly picked off a hat. The finished production should be dropped off at Finas at 7.30pm on Oct 31. Late submission will be disqualified, however still screened on the day of screening.
All films will be screened on November 6 at the Colliseum Theatre, Kuala Lumpur. On the same day, awards will be given. Two members of the team winning the Best Film award, will represent Malaysia at Filmapalooza during Miami Film Festival 2011.
Here are some tips from Malaysian filmmaker Khairil Bahar to the competing teams:
Prepare: Prepare your things (Prop, equipment) before hand. Also practice your filmmaking skills
Test: When you have your equipments ready, especially your camera, test it. Make sure it functions the way you want it to.
Simple: Keep things simple. Don’t complicate yourself. Use things that you already have and base everything around the things you have. You can even base the film on your personal experience.
Cast: Select actors who are really passionate about acting. Be sure they listen to you.
Story: Story is the most important. When you have a good story, the rest doesn’t matter as much.
Originality: Make something new. Don’t make something that will bore your audience.
So, are you ready to film? For those of you who are interested, you can find more info at http://kl48hourfilm.com/.
Two teams have registered to represent HELP so far and the registration is still going on. Early birds (registering before Oct 4) will be charged only RM350 of registration fees, whereas late comers will be charged RM400.
For the competing teams, Good Luck and make HELP proud.

Runway 101: The Auditions
The two judges, Dennis Khor Chen Weng, Organizing Chairperson as well as Stéfanie , the member of the event’s Publicity team were spoilt for choices as participants are well-versed in different aspects from their appearances to ability to stay cool amid scrutiny from the latter.
"It is like choosing the best among the best as we really have quite a number of good-looking participants," said Dennis after the auditions have ended.
During the interview, Dennis also added that ‘detail is perfection and perfection is no detail,’ as a tip for those who participated in the auditions.
It was certainly nerve-breaking for those who gave a try as they faced tough questions from the judges and the flashing lights of the camera in the audition room while performing a simple catwalk. Nevertheless, they still managed to put up their best in the hopes of impressing the judges as well as reaching the semifinal.

Kavitha Selvam, who were among the first few to enter, said that she used her smile to cover up her nervousness and answered all the questions from the judges.
"I didn’t lose my confidence although this is considered my very first audition," Kavitha added.
Organized by IPRMSA, Runway 101 is a model-searching competition in campus for those enjoying the glitter and glamour of being a model and at the same time gaining new experience.
As to date, a total of 22 participants have been shortlisted for the semifinal set for this Wednesday at Main Block’s Lower Foyer from 12 p.m. onwards and admission is free for all students and lecturers.
